Presenting an excerpt from the Popular Dictionary of Architecture and the Allied Arts, Vol. II (1881) by William James Audsley and George Ashdown Audsley. which tells the story of today’s Free Friday Vintage Coloring Page.

“The accompanying illustrations, Fig. 1 [LEFT], the goddess Uati, lady of heaven, and genius of the Lower Country, and Fig. 2 [RIGHT], the goddess Nishem, of Eileithyia, regent of heaven, show asps, winged, and wearing the crowns of Upper and Lower Egypt. When represented as the emblem of Chnoumis and on head-dresses as the symbol of royal power, the asp is neither winged nor crowned. Sometimes the asp was delineated with a human head.”
