Percy James Billinghurst was a painter, illustrator and bookplate designer who lived from 1871-1933. He created over two hundred illustrations for books of anecdotes and fables.
In this first volume of Percy’s work, all of the images come from a collection of A Hundred Fables of La Fontaine, which included several fables told by Aesop. Illustrations feature mostly animals, a few humans, and clean line art for flat or shading coloring.
This PDF version of The Art of Percy J. Billinghurst, Vol. 1, contains the same number of illustrations as the print version. You will find all of the pages represented in the Product Gallery. There are 20 full page (8.5″ x 11″) illustrations, and 20, 4” x 6” images as postcard-sized close-ups of the preceding artwork.
