Hereby presenting an excerpt from The Story of a Candy Rabbit (1920) by Laura Lee Hope. It tells the story of today’s Free Friday Vintage Coloring Page which is an illustration by Harry L. Smith.

Feeling rather lonesome, the Rabbit looked for some one to whom he might talk. He saw cakes of soap, towels, and wash cloths. There was also a large sponge in a wire basket hanging over the edge of the bathtub.

“I have heard that sponges are animals,” said the Candy Rabbit. “I wonder if this one is alive and will speak to me. I’ll try. Hello there, Mr. Sponge!” he called.
